fausta could swear on her life that there was no better feeling than throwing a party in a new mansion in a new place. her home was beautiful, and the people of rome even more so. she loved the city and it's rustic charm, reminding her so much of home but with much less archaic buildings. she hadn't hesitated to leave the preparations of her home and the large party to her advisors and instead vanished into the marketplace with a hooded cloak covering most of her body. she breathed in the air, bought some produce, and was back in time for lunch in the courtyard and a proper scolding from her personal maid who'd been with her since birth.
night couldn't fall fast enough. colorful lights were strung about the garden, the fountain as a centerpiece sparkling with the tealights in paper lanterns floating on the surface of the rippling water. she'd gone far enough to lavish tables with the finest wines and foods from local food sources. she herself was in a very loose and nearly translucent gown of white silk, to the horror and amusement of her new staff. proudly she coiled her bouncy curls atop her head and adorned her dark hair with pearls, slipping into the gardens after the sun had set and the trickle of guests had settled from the impatient stream. she approached a small podium, addressing the many guests dawdling about. "friends, and strangers yet to be friends, allow this to be a night full of merriment!" a cheerful cry rose into the air, and she licked her lips in anticipation. after all, when in rome.
